I love the image of the Butterfly - it's steeped with many means, some think it relates to fairies and pixies, or if that isn't your cup of tea, others think of the symbology (which is my take really) - others use the Butterfly to represent the visitation of a loved one in spirit, whatever your take on these beautiful creatures - just listen to the write up below

Shaman believe that we all have animals as guides around us, I know what my main animal guide is (I'm keeping that to myself, well ok then... did you notice my blog yesterday about tigger ) but for those of you who are abit of a flutterby fans

  fabulous i was thinking of getting a dragonfly actually for my hip, not sure, my sister has quite afew tattoos, thing that's putting me off.... i'm scared of needles!! xx

Oh can i tell my butterfly story? i may have told it before but its such a beautiful story.

The week before my brother was due to get married my granny past away, the day before the wedding was the funeral of my granny, on the mound of dirt in the cemetery was a white butterfly, as the coffin was lowered into the ground the sun came out. That night we traveled down to england for the wedding, All a bit sad my granny was'nt going to be there we held our chins up and embraced the joyous occasion of a white wedding, when the photographs came back the first photo we seen was of my brother and sil leaving the church, now as you know the happy couple leave first then family then other guests, on the picture just above my brother shoulder was a white butterfly. It put us at ease knowing that although she was'nt there in body she was there in spirit. Now when i see a white butterfly i stop in my tracks and watch it flutter away, i'm not into all this life after death thing but i can make an exception for one fine old lady xx

    Get the tattoo, hips can be a tad stingy getting down but the shoulder blade is a piece of pi.., when granny died i got a white butterfly sitting on a rose (her middle name) with g.g underneath it as thats what Brooke called her xx

        the one on my wrist hurt a fair bit, the one on my back hurt the most though, my thigh and ankle barely hurt at all. But definitely go for one if you're happy about it and as trulfab says shoulder blade should be easy enough, anywhere there's enough flesh! xx

    The red coloring of the robins chest is linked to the kundalini in man. This life force lives coiled up within the base of the spine. When sufficient spiritual growth has been attained it uncoils, rising up the spine to create heightened awareness. This process enhances psychic vision which leads us into enlightenment.   symbology signs literally sign posts are around us everyday we all know there meaning. 'do not enter', well the same can be said about animals for instance... a bear... strength.... horse... power and speed etc., it's all very interesting! XXX

I love what you've written, and on such a rich subject! I am a multi-cultural shaman, and have long appreciated Butterfly wisdom. In addition to the meanings you mentioned, I understand Butterfly as a reminder to find joy in the moment, here and now, regardless of whatever is happening around us. It's been a powerful lesson for me.

I wonder about this robin who visits me every day and comes so close, but for the dog i think he would be in the house. Is he a spirit of some one, have animals and birds once been people, yes i do wonder, this is another reason to treat them well.xx

    There's gaps under the eaves - they must come in there, looking for somewhere to spend the winter, and they roost (is that the right word?) on the beams and wiring etc. The garage is attached to the side wall of the house, so it gets a bit of heat transmitted that way, so it stays frost-free but sill cold. I expect they like those conditions to hibernate in.
